God’s gift . . .
We Never Walk Alone
God didn’t design either of us to do life on our own . . . Think for a moment about the people God has placed around you . . . friends and family and even strangers . . . What would your life be like if you had no one to share it with? . . . Honestly, we need each other . . . and the support, the encouragement, and a lot of help along the way.
But how often do we just need God’s assurance, as our Good Father, that He is there, and that we are not alone? . . . Have you ever had a conversation with God that goes something like this? (even though you’ve had this conversation before/ asked Him the same questions again and again) . . .
“God? Are you there?”
“Yes, I’m right here.”
“God, I’m feeling really alone and lonely.”
“You might feel lonely, but you’re not alone.”
“God, really? You are with me now, and you won’t leave me?
“I’ve already told you . . .
even put it in writing in my Word to assure you . . .
I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
“God, thank you, and I’m sorry for when I ask again”
“Remember child, I love you, no matter what.”
“God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”
Numbers 23:19
We can trust God because He will do what He says He will do.
“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them.
For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you.
He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
Believers are never alone . . . We have the Holy Spirit—our Helper and Advocate, who dwells within us to provide guidance and inner strength . . . We have Jesus—our Savior and intercessor who always provides a listening ear . . . And we have our Creator—God, our Father who promises to never leave or forsake us, and who provides steadfast comfort in all seasons of our lives.
And, in addition to spiritual interaction, we have our community of faithful believers who walk alongside one another, share in each other's burdens, and reflect God's love during lonely or difficult times . . . We never walk alone!
INSIGHT . . .
We all go through occasions and seasons when we feel more anxious than other times . . . In general, I try not to be a worrier, but I do experience my share of sleepless nights, and days when my mind keeps racing with those pesky "what-if" scenarios . . . It’s hard to admit, but I realize that a major contributor to those anxious feelings is me—my bad habit of keeping too much to myself and trying to do too much on my own . . . That’s not how God intended us to live—in solitude and separation.
But I do know that our Lord who loves us will never abandon us, even when we make mistakes, ignore Him, forget to pray . . . the list can go on and on . . . but God loves you and God loves me.
If you're suffering or struggling right now, don't mistakenly let yourself believe that you're all alone . . . because God sends people who are willing to suffer alongside you and willing to work with you through whatever is necessary . . . look around and ask around . . . there are other compassionate souls willing to share that suffering with you and support you, just like Jesus willingly suffered for us.
We are grateful to God for the people that He sends to be alongside us, but no one surpasses the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ . . . We are never alone because He has promised to remain with us forever.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
We don’t deserve all the many blessing Jesus has given us . . . we don't even deserve His promise to be with us always because, honestly, most of us have seasons in our lives when we aren’t really making Him a priority . . . you know, too busy doing “my own thing” and forgetting to concentrate on our walk with Christ.
But even in our lowest and most confusing seasons of life, Jesus doesn’t leave us . . . He walks with us, points us in the right direction, and reminds us that His love for each of us isn't based on our getting everything right . . . His love for us is based on His faithfulness and unchanging nature, not our ability to earn His favor . . . Remember, every day the Lord has you and me on His mind.
In Christ, you are a new creation. You are no longer who you used to be.
He has promised to never leave you and never forsake you,
and I'm grateful for the Holy Spirit's inspiration and powerful reminder.

INVITATION—TO TALK WITH GOD . . .
Life is a journey we were never meant to walk alone
(Jocelyn Soriano)
Our greatest journey is not physical . . . It’s our spiritual journey towards living a more Christ-like life . . . To do that, we must walk with God . . . So, what does it mean to walk with God?
Walking with God is trusting the guide—the Holy Spirit, God’s Word, and the feeling of His presence—more than trusting the road we imagine ahead . . . we don’t know our future, but God does and He will keep us safe if we let Him.
If you struggle with trust, don’t fret—ask God to help you trust Him.
Walking with God is to grow and mature in your belief in Him and all He does for you . . . knowing and accepting that He loves you just the way you are.
Do you believe God loves you—just the way you are? . . . Why or why not?
Walking with God means walking with God . . . Don’t exhaust yourself by trying to walk ahead of Him and going your own way . . . it’s easy to get lost when we do.
Walking with God means striving to distance yourself from the noise and distractions that drown out God’s voice . . . The world is full of chatter, useless talk, shouts of anger, and fear . . . God’s voice soothes our hearts, gives us peace, reassures us, and gives us joy . . . And we also need to drop any excess, unnecessary baggage the world wants us to carry—God will take care of your burdens and struggles, so give them to Him.
Where do you need God’s help to shut out the world’s chaos
so you can focus on Him and His guidance?
Ask God to show you a new path to help you.
Walking with God means we still take time to rest our minds, our hearts, our souls and our bodies . . . This allows us to regain strength, heal our bodies and minds, and build the fortitude we need to continue walking with Him.
Prayerfully talk with God about helping you find time to rest more deeply.
Walking with God is walking in faith . . . Unexpected turns and twists happen, but when we trust the Savior that leads us, we are trusting in the God who has never let us down and who will do everything in His great power and love to lead us into eternity.
ILLUMINATION . . .
How do you approach God? . . . On your knees, eyes closed, eyes open, hands folded, palms open and upwards? . . . How about with on-the-run conversations . . . little pop-up prayers driving down the road? . . . It doesn’t matter—just talk with Him, listen to Him, and cultivate a relationship with your Lord and Savior.
I love it when God sends reminders to reassure us that He is still working on us, paying attention to what we need right then . . . maybe a song on the radio that just resonates deep in your heart and soul . . . a scripture that keeps popping up over and over . . . the words of a friend that reaffirms something you’ve been questioning . . . Can you think of times when God surprised you with just what you needed to hear at just the right moment?
The bottom line is we are never alone.
God doesn’t want us to be afraid or worried because He’s there to strengthen us.
He helps us and doesn’t let us fall.
(Dana Hagstrom)
A confession of sorts . . . Whenever I feel stressed and alone, the words to a very old song bubble up in my mind . . . a song from a 1945 musical originally sung by Kate Smith . . . I wasn’t born until 1957, but that doesn’t change the effect the song has had on my life . . . and actually I don’t remember anything else about the musical except the song . . . “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. . .
When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high, and don’t be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm there’s a golden sky and the sweet, silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind, walk on through the rain,
though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart, and you’ll never walk alone!
You’ll never walk alone.
This may have started out as a secular song, but it has been pulled into the Christian realm because of its message . . . the lyrics proclaim a core belief of believers . . . When we choose the way, the truth, and the life of Christ, we are choosing to “never walk alone” . . . We belong to Christ, and we belong to each other . . . so we look after each other, pray for one another, and love one another . . . When we put our faith in Christ, life is no longer just about me—it's about us . . . Life is no longer about what I need or what I want . . . it becomes about who we are as a community . . . We don't walk alone.

INSPIRATION—PRAYING THROUGH MUSIC . . .
Connecting music to your walk with God can offer deep encouragement,
help quiet the spirit, and set a beautiful rhythm to daily life.
I encourage you to take time to listen to any or all the songs below . . . there is no right or wrong style of music—it is what speaks to you . . . listen to the melody and the lyrics and feel the response of your heart to what God wants you to hear . . . and I do understand that music doesn’t speak to everyone . . . and that is okay too.

INTO EACH DAY AHEAD . . .
It doesn’t matter what season of life you’re going through . . . It doesn’t matter what challenges you face in your daily life, God is always present, a constant anchor and firm foundation you can depend upon . . . When you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or just too tired to even think, remember to pause, pray, and lean into God’s comforting presence you know is there with you.
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
We know life isn’t promised to be perfect . . . But we know it is better when we remember Jesus is walking with us through all the hills and valleys, too . . . No matter what, God is there strengthening us . . . Once we open our hearts to Him, God never leaves our side . . . As believers in Christ, we are welcomed into the family of God and the comfort and support of His loving heart.
And remember, God doesn’t want us to be isolated from other believers either . . . They may not be perfect, but we aren’t, either
. . . We need each other . . . The Bible declares that encouragement is the fuel for Christian life, and we are meant to “fuel” each other’s hearts and souls.
“So, encourage each other and build each other up,
comfort each other and make each other strong,
just as you are already doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
This isn’t just a statement for encouragement . . . it’s a reminder to seek the kinship of other believers, especially when we’re faced with difficulties or struggles . . . Having conversations, praying together, and sharing burdens together nurtures Spiritual support for each other . . . It allows us to experience Jesus with authenticity and appreciation together, helping us realize that we are not alone . . . Keep showing up for others, keep being accountable with others, and keep supporting those who need you and God in their lives.
Dear Lord, there are times when we do feel alone and
overwhelmed by the loneliness that seems to be plaguing our world in these times.
Help us realize that when you are with us, we are never ever on our own.
With your constant care, your loving presence,
open each of us up to see the possibilities of friendships
and caring fellowship that you desire for our lives
until we see you face to face in eternity.—Amen!
